Greetings all Friends in North East Thames AM,
At Leigh on Sea Meeting House we are starting the new year with a Quaker Quiet Day (Silent Retreat) on  Saturday 10 January 2026, as per the attached poster/flyer.
Please share the details with Friends across the Area Meeting, we would be pleased to see them.

Without  the risk of creating enormous food waste we cannot cater for everyone's dietary needs and restrictions so we ask people to bring their own lunch and snacks though we will endeavour to provide suitable beverages. There is no charge, but we would like to prepare for as many as would like to come so people are asked to let me know if they are coming.

Quakers in London News Sheet 3

This News Sheet is a digest both for general use and for members and regular attenders who do not follow business closely or use electronic communication. It is emailed around circulation lists, printed for notice boards and taken to or posted to less active or distant friends. Issue 3 contains advance information about the JLAM on 11th January.

Our next Area Meeting for Business is at Walthamstow Meeting House, Jewel Rd, E17 4QU on Sunday February 1st at 1.30 pm.

Documents in Advance will be posted in that section under Area Meeting Information and distributed through clerks and contacts.  An Online button will be at the foot of this page on the day, in the calendar entry.

The final Meeting for Worship in Romford Meeting House was held on Sunday 22nd June 2025.  Although Quakers in Romford were only in their recent Meeting House for six decades, member Ian Hutchings researched and wrote this 13 page article of their history from 1684.

Quaker Wednesday

Quaker Wednesday takes place on the first Wednesday morning of every month at Wanstead  Meeting House.   Friends, visitors and enquirers gather for coffee and conversation from 10.30 onwards.   Meeting for Worship is from 12 to 12.45, followed by a shared lunch.   Everyone is welcome, and can attend for as much or as little time as they wish.   It usually finishes around 2.15.   Next dates:  January 7th and February 4th.
