Area Meeting Newsletter

November 2025    NET Minute 25.96    Area Meeting Newsletter

We agree to lay down our regular area meeting Newsletter.  New forms of communication are developing and we can share our reports through them, across London as appropriate.

Articles and reports can be sent to the AM Clerk.  They will either be included in AM agendas, or the AM Clerk will circulate them and post them on the AM Website.

NEWSLETTER GUIDANCE

AM Newsletter Guidance

The AM Newsletter was published in February, June and October each year.  The rotation was in alphabetical order which means each Local Meeting originally took a turn every two years.

Newsletter Editors were appointed by each local meeting for their turn. They could be members or attenders.

People in our area meeting wrote articles as inspired.  A request for contributions was sent by the appointed Newsletter Editor to the AM Clerk.  The AM Clerk asked the local meeting clerks or contacts to distribute it to their circulation lists.  They also asked for an announcement to be made in Notices after Meeting for Worship.  Articles and replies were then sent directly to that Editor.

The Editor of each local edition had complete discretion as to which articles were accepted for publication in their issue.

The format, and use of columns and pictures etc, was at the discretion of the Newsletter Editor. The AM Website Manager or AM clerk was able to help with general advice.

Local meetings used this opportunity to inform the area meeting community about more things connected to the life of their meeting than might be put in their annual report.

The Newsletter Editor sent the published issue to the AM Clerk for distribution to the local clerks and contacts through their circulation lists.  The AM Clerk also asked for publication of the new edition to be mentioned in Notices.

Each local meeting was responsible for distributing paper copies to those who need them. Receipts for costs involved could be sent to the AM Bookkeeper on the claim form.   Local Meeting - Expenses Claim form in the Document Library

The AM Website Manager or Website Editor posted each issue on the Area Meeting Website under Newsletter and sent an electronic copy to newsletters@quaker.org.uk to send it to both Quaker Life and Friends House Library.
